What is Clotheswap?

Picture
 It's a Show. It's a Swap. It's Both.

Clotheswap invites members of the audience to bring bags of used clothing to serve as fodder for improv within the performance. After the performance, those garments are donated to
 Sistering and Dress for Success.

Examining the seams of empathy among women, the high cost of fast fashion and the stories our bodies tell; Clotheswap was and is a show, a Clothing Swap, and free admission to one of Toronto’s greatest and most unique museums.  The world premiere of Clotheswap took place at the Toronto Fringe July 3-14, 2019 at the
Textile Museum of Canada.

Set in a soon-to-be-sold mid century house, five women come together to swap their clothes and their truths.

Clotheswap examines women’s narrative through clothing from the last century to present day - from the “make do and mend” rhetoric of the 1940’s to the “fast fashion” of today.  It also examines women’s circles and our own limitations; who is left out of these conversations...and why.  Clotheswap is an inclusive, interactive, and body-positive theatre experience.
